The Ultra Music Festival (also known by the acronym UMF, often simply called “Ultra”) is an annual American outdoor electronic music festival held each March in Miami, Florida by Ultra Worldwide. The name of the festival, which was founded in 1999 by Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes, is inspired by the Ultra album by the group Depeche Mode. The date of the Ultra Music Festival coincides with that of the Winter Music Conference, also held in Miami. It is considered one of the best electronic music events in the world along with Tomorrowland, Amsterdam Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival and Coachella.
